what is a postpartum doula
- A professional support person trained in the needs of the family in the days, weeks and months after birth or the addition of a new baby. The doula offers non-judgmental support, guidance, evidence based education and practical hands-on support immediately after birth through the first year.
A PP doula does not & is not
- A postpartum doula is not a medical professional.
- A postpartum doula is not a psychologist or mental health professional.
- A postpartum doula does not perform clinical tasks such as checking the baby’s respiratory rate, check a mom’s c-section incision, suggest medications (over the counter, prescription or herbal) or any other medical advice.
- A postpartum doula does not make any decisions for the family.
- A postpartum doula is not a lactation consultant (unless licensed and hired) and will not make decisions about how the baby will be fed.

Details:
All postpartum doula shifts are at least 4 hours long in length.
A minimum of 12 hours of services is required ( at least 3 shifts to work as your postpartum
doula.
Please Note: Hours and fees reflected are day time hours. Postpartum services between 7pm-7am is assessed at 35/hr, so your total hours may differ.
A 50% deposit is due at signing the contract. This allows me to mark your postpartum time in
the calendar (with flexibility with unpredictability of birth). Remaining balance is due at 36 weeks gestation.
